![]() More recently, she was concerned that tiaras and court dress were to be done away with, and replaced, as at some pop festival, by flowers in ladies’ hair, though then came the joyful tidings that this ruling has been reversed. She has been ringing me at frequent intervals, each time with some fresh worry about the Coronation.įirst it was the failure to invite the dukes. It gets a little tedious (mostly because I forget to switch profiles) to switch to the profile with no settings, use ctrl-c to copy some text from Linux, switch to the other profile (with the above settings) and then use ctrl-v to paste the text into an Outlook (for Mac) email.Īllow me to express appreciation for what has been already accomplished Karabiner-Elements and simply express my hope that automatic support for virtual machines is coming soon.“It’s not Glastonbury!” a friend of mine expostulated. What I would like for Karabiner-Elements to automatically do is disable all settings when I start typing in any virtual machine window, and then enable all settings when I move the mouse to start typing in any OS X window. If this is a note to keep watching as new features are developed, then I will gladly do so.Īs mentioned above, with the latest release of karabiner-elements and the posted configuration file (karabiner.json), I am able to use the PC ctrl + letter in place of Mac's cmd + letter and I am able to use the PC Home / End keys to go to the beginning / ending of the line. My apologies, but I couldn't find the release notes or any references to how Karabiner-Elements might handle virtual machines. "description": "Change Mac Home/End to PC Home/End unless in Parallels Desktop", "title": "Change Mac Home/End to PC Home/End unless in Parallels Desktop", As a small attempt to help others, here is a json file that I use for converting Mac Home/End to PC Home/End: This is exactly what I need to be productive. ![]() Looks like the keys are now inactive when I am using my Parallels Desktop I was able to add the following in front of each "from" attribute and it "description": "Change Home/End to command+left_arrow/right_arrow.", ![]() "description": "Change left_control + letter to left_command + letter", "basic.to_if_alone_timeout_milliseconds": 1000 Is support for ignoring all settings while in a VM coming anytime soon? I have created two profiles, one for OS X Sierra with the above rules and one for RHEL (Redhat Enterprise Linux) with no rules, but it is annoying to have to switch between these profiles manually. These work fine for using Microsoft Office for Mac, but don't work while in Redhat Linux (where I do development using Eclipse). I think that I have correctly modified karabiner.json to handle converting left-ctrl + letter to left_command + letter and home/end to left_command + left_arrow/right_arrow (see below). I am a 25+ year PC/Windows user who has only in the last two years been required to use a Macbook Pro, Parallels Desktop, and Redhat Linux. I was recently forced to upgrade to OS X Sierra and of course the Karabiner tool no longer works, so I am trying to make do with Karabiner-Elements.
